Metabolite Identification
Common NameLacto-N-hexaose
DescriptionLacto-N-hexaose belongs to the class of organic compounds known as oligosaccharides. These are carbohydrates made up of 3 to 10 monosaccharide units linked to each other through glycosidic bonds. Lacto-N-hexaose has been detected, but not quantified in, a few different foods, such as anatidaes (Anatidae), chickens (Gallus gallus), and domestic pigs (Sus scrofa domestica). This could make lacto-N-hexaose a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods. Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on Lacto-N-hexaose.
