Description | 2-Ethyl-4-methylphenol belongs to the class of organic compounds known as para cresols. Para cresols are compounds containing a para cresol moiety, which consists of a benzene ring bearing one hydroxyl group at ring positions 1 and 4. 2-Ethyl-4-methylphenol has been detected, but not quantified in, several different foods, such as arabica coffees (Coffea arabica), breakfast cereal, cereals and cereal products, coffee and coffee products, and robusta coffees (Coffea canephora). This could make 2-ethyl-4-methylphenol a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods. Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on 2-Ethyl-4-methylphenol. |
