Description5-(12-Heneicosenyl)-1,3-benzenediol belongs to the class of organic compounds known as resorcinols. Resorcinols are compounds containing a resorcinol moiety, which is a benzene ring bearing two hydroxyl groups at positions 1 and 3. 5-(12-Heneicosenyl)-1,3-benzenediol has been detected, but not quantified in, several different foods, such as rice (Oryza sativa), quinoas (Chenopodium quinoa), ryes (Secale cereale), common wheats (Triticum aestivum), and sorghums (Sorghum bicolor). This could make 5-(12-heneicosenyl)-1,3-benzenediol a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods. Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on 5-(12-Heneicosenyl)-1,3-benzenediol.
