Metabolite Identification
Common Name1-(2-Aminoethyl)thiourea
Description1-(2-Aminoethyl)thiourea, also known as ae-itu or aminoethyl-isothiourea, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as thioureas. These are organic compounds containing the thiourea functional group, a derivative of urea with the general structure (R1(N)R2C(=S)(R3)R4, R1-R4=H, alkyl, aryl), obtained by replacing the carbonyl group of urea with a thiocarbonyl group. Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on 1-(2-Aminoethyl)thiourea. This compound has been identified in human blood as reported by (PMID: 31557052 ). 1-(2-aminoethyl)thiourea is not a naturally occurring metabolite and is only found in those individuals exposed to this compound or its derivatives. Technically 1-(2-Aminoethyl)thiourea is part of the human exposome. The exposome can be defined as the collection of all the exposures of an individual in a lifetime and how those exposures relate to health. An individual's exposure begins before birth and includes insults from environmental and occupational sources.
