Metabolite Identification
Common Namedelta-Guanidinovaleric acid
Description5-carbamimidamidopentanoic acid belongs to the class of organic compounds known as straight chain fatty acids. These are fatty acids with a straight aliphatic chain. 5-carbamimidamidopentanoic acid is a very strong basic compound (based on its pKa). This compound has been identified in human blood as reported by (PMID: 31557052 ). Delta-guanidinovaleric acid is not a naturally occurring metabolite and is only found in those individuals exposed to this compound or its derivatives. Technically delta-Guanidinovaleric acid is part of the human exposome.
