Methyl isobutyrate is an apple, floral, and flower tasting compound. methyl isobutyrate has been detected, but not quantified, in several different foods, such as fruits, herbs and spices, pineapples, pomes, and potato. This could make methyl isobutyrate a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods.
