risedronate also targets farnesyl pyrophosphate (fpp) synthase. nitrogen-containing bisphosphonates (such as pamidronate, alendronate, risedronate, ibandronate and zoledronate) appear to act as analogues of isoprenoid diphosphate lipids, thereby inhibiting fpp synthase, an enzyme in the mevalonate pathway.
