These compounds contain one or more double or triple bonds. Thus, 1-tridecene is considered to be a hydrocarbon lipid molecule. 1-Tridecene is a very hydrophobic molecule, practically insoluble (in water), and relatively neutral. Outside of the human body, 1-Tridecene has been detected, but not quantified in, several different foods, such as cauliflowers, fats and oils, fruits, milk and milk products, and nuts. This could make 1-tridecene a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods.
