Description5,5,9,14-tetramethyltetracyclo[11.2.1.0¹,¹⁰.0⁴,⁹]hexadecane belongs to the class of organic compounds known as kaurane diterpenoids. These are diterpene alkaloids with a structure that is based on the kaurane skeleton. Kaurane is a tetracyclic compound that arises by cyclisation of a pimarane precursor followed by rearrangement. It possesses a [3,2,1]-bicyclic ring system with C15-C16 bridge connected to C13, forming the five-membered ring D. 5,5,9,14-tetramethyltetracyclo[11.2.1.0¹,¹⁰.0⁴,⁹]hexadecane is possibly neutral. This compound has been identified in human blood as reported by (PMID: 31557052 ). Ent-kaurane is not a naturally occurring metabolite and is only found in those individuals exposed to this compound or its derivatives. Technically ent-Kaurane is part of the human exposome. The exposome can be defined as the collection of all the exposures of an individual in a lifetime and how those exposures relate to health. An individual's exposure begins before birth and includes insults from environmental and occupational sources.
