Description | 4,4,6a,8a,11,11,12b,14b-octamethyl-1,2,3,4,4a,5,6,6a,8,8a,9,10,11,12,12a,12b,13,14,14a,14b-icosahydropicen-3-one belongs to the class of organic compounds known as scalarane sesterterpenoids. These are sesterterpenoids with a structure based on the scalarane backbone. Scalarane is a tetracyclic compound, which is similar the homoandrostane with five methyl groups at the 4-, 4-, 8-, 17-, 17a-positions. Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on 4,4,6a,8a,11,11,12b,14b-octamethyl-1,2,3,4,4a,5,6,6a,8,8a,9,10,11,12,12a,12b,13,14,14a,14b-icosahydropicen-3-one. This compound has been identified in human blood as reported by (PMID: 31557052 ). Taraxerone is not a naturally occurring metabolite and is only found in those individuals exposed to this compound or its derivatives. Technically Taraxerone is part of the human exposome. The exposome can be defined as the collection of all the exposures of an individual in a lifetime and how those exposures relate to health. An individual's exposure begins before birth and includes insults from environmental and occupational sources. |
