Identification
HMDB Protein ID HMDBP02133
Secondary Accession Numbers
  • 7615
Name Cyclic AMP-responsive element-binding protein 1
Synonyms
  1. CREB-1
  2. cAMP-responsive element-binding protein 1
Gene Name CREB1
Protein Type Unknown
Biological Properties
General Function Involved in sequence-specific DNA binding transcription factor activity
Specific Function This protein binds the cAMP response element (CRE), a sequence present in many viral and cellular promoters. CREB stimulates transcription on binding to the CRE. Transcription activation is enhanced by the TORC coactivators which act independently of Ser-133 phosphorylation. Implicated in synchronization of circadian rhythmicity
