Name Cyclic AMP-dependent transcription factor ATF-5
Synonyms
  1. Activating transcription factor 5
  2. Transcription factor ATFx
  3. cAMP-dependent transcription factor ATF-5
Gene Name ATF5
Protein Type Unknown
Biological Properties
General Function Involved in sequence-specific DNA binding transcription factor activity
Specific Function Transcriptional activator which binds the cAMP response element (CRE) (consensus:5'-GTGACGT[AC][AG]-3'), a sequence present in many viral and cellular promoters and blocks the differentiation of neuroprogenitor cells into neurons. Its transcriptional activity is enhanced by CCND3 and slightly inhibited by CDK4
