Metabolite Identification
Common Name(R)-Laudanidine
Description(R)-Laudanidine, also known as tritopin or DL-laudanine, belongs to the class of organic compounds known as benzylisoquinolines. These are organic compounds containing an isoquinoline to which a benzyl group is attached (R)-Laudanidine has been detected, but not quantified in, opium poppies (Papaver somniferum). This could make (R)-laudanidine a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods (R)-Laudanidine is a primary metabolite. Primary metabolites are metabolically or physiologically essential metabolites. They are directly involved in an organism’s growth, development or reproduction. Based on a literature review a significant number of articles have been published on (R)-Laudanidine.
