Common Namephosphatidyl (3,5) inositol biphosphate
Description{[3-({[2,3-bis(hexadecanoyloxy)propoxy](hydroxy)phosphoryl}oxy)-2,4,6-trihydroxy-5-(phosphonooxy)cyclohexyl]oxy}phosphonic acid belongs to the class of organic compounds known as glycerophosphoinositol phosphates. These are lipids containing a common glycerophosphate skeleton linked to at least one fatty acyl chain and an inositol-5-phosphate moiety. Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on {[3-({[2,3-bis(hexadecanoyloxy)propoxy](hydroxy)phosphoryl}oxy)-2,4,6-trihydroxy-5-(phosphonooxy)cyclohexyl]oxy}phosphonic acid. This compound has been identified in human blood as reported by (PMID: 31557052 ). Phosphatidyl (3,5) inositol biphosphate is not a naturally occurring metabolite and is only found in those individuals exposed to this compound or its derivatives. Technically phosphatidyl (3,5) inositol biphosphate is part of the human exposome. The exposome can be defined as the collection of all the exposures of an individual in a lifetime and how those exposures relate to health. An individual's exposure begins before birth and includes insults from environmental and occupational sources.

Enzymes

General function:
Involved in protein binding
Specific function:
The PI(3,5)P2 regulatory complex regulates both the synthesis and turnover of phosphatidylinositol-3,5-bisphosphate (PtdIns(3,5)P2). Catalyzes the phosphorylation of phosphatidylinositol-3-phosphate on the fifth hydroxyl of the myo- inositol ring, to form phosphatidylinositol-3,5-bisphosphate. Required for endocytic-vacuolar pathway and nuclear migration. Plays a role in the biogenesis of endosome carrier vesicles (ECV)/ multivesicular bodies (MVB) transport intermediates from early endosomes
Gene Name:
PIKFYVE
Uniprot ID:
Q9Y2I7
Molecular weight:

General function:
Involved in phosphatase activity
Specific function:
Lipid phosphatase which dephosphorylates phosphatidylinositol 3-monophosphate (PI3P) and phosphatidylinositol 3,5-bisphosphate (PI(3,5)P2). Has also been shown to dephosphorylate phosphotyrosine- and phosphoserine-containing peptides. Negatively regulates EGFR degradation through regulation of EGFR trafficking from the late endosome to the lysosome. Plays a role in vacuolar formation and morphology. Regulates desmin intermediate filament assembly and architecture. Plays a role in mitochondrial morphology and positioning. Required for skeletal muscle maintenance but not for myogenesis.

Specific function:
The PI(3,5)P2 regulatory complex regulates both the synthesis and turnover of phosphatidylinositol 3,5-bisphosphate (PtdIns(3,5)P2). Acts as a positive activator of PIKfyve kinase activity. Also required to maintain normal levels of phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate (PtdIns(3)P) and phosphatidylinositol 5-phosphate (PtdIns(5)P). Plays a role in the biogenesis of endosome carrier vesicles (ECV) / multivesicular bodies (MVB) transport intermediates from early endosomes.
